The Haunting of Paradise

Virgil Deakin hangs himself. John Ford, a prosecuting attorney, learns of his friend’s suicide and goes back home to Paradise. There he is plagued by apparitions of his dead friend and of a little girl, Beatrice Wells, whose drowning John and Virgil had witnessed together as boys. It was their testimony of her death that sent Billy Rood, John’s last living specter, to death row. With Billy’s execution imminent, John seeks out the dark madness of Paradise that consumed Virgil and now lies in wait for him. And as he moves closer to the truth, all John’s hopes and fears may rest with a spirited ten-year-old named Selene Donnan. However, for all those who live in Paradise, John Ford is the herald of unrest.
